Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang
4.5
This book was absolutely brilliant! I can’t get over how much I actually liked every single story. But “Story of Your Life” and “Liking What You See: A Documentary” were definitely the highlights!
Tower of Babylon
4.5 ⭐
Read it to my boyfriend over Discord, we both enjoyed it a lot and had a nice discussion about it afterwards! 😃
Understand
4 ⭐
Very different from the first story, but again, a very thrilling read and a confusing-but-not-too-confusing-to-be-frustrated ending. 😆
Division by Zero

Sometimes I feel dumb when I need to read some explanations/theories on the internet to understand a story. But usually, after doing so, I can appreciate that story so much more. Like this one, for example.
Story of Your Life
5 ⭐
I had very high expectations, knowing the movie and loving linguistics, and I wasn’t disappointed. Chiang is a brilliant writer. I love his writing style and I love his ideas!
Seventy-two Letters
3.5 ⭐
Gosh, this was a tough read! Sooo many weird words I’ve never heard before. I probably didn’t understand 30% of the whole story (that is all the parts where they discuss theories and ideas in great detail), but the overall story was great and I loved the finale! 👌🏼
The Evolution of Human Science
4 ⭐
That was a SHORT story for real! Very impressive how Chiang manages to introduce a different world on only 2½ pages! o.O
Hell Is the Absence of God
4.5 ⭐
Until the ending, I planned to give this story five stars, but something about the ending changed my mind. Anyway, a brilliant and hella terrifying story! 😆
Liking What You See: A Documentary
5 ⭐
What an insane last story! I’m actually creeped out by how seriously I’m considering both sides presented in this short …
