This is book touches on Persian culture and features a nonbinary healer. While I personally don't know much of Persian culture, I did enjoy this fantasy novella where blood magic is being used. The characters were distinct enough to know who is who. I wanted to find out more of the plague that caused our protagonist to take refugees to a different state. Including bites of describing the anatomy churned in me an idea of the state of Qilwa. With magic works alongside healing, I liked that development.
