Beckett Loew and Sunny Du Jardin

Little bit of enemies to lovers, little bit brother's best friend. Age gap <10 years

Unresolved: the FBI case against Beckett's parents. I expect more information in Decker's book.

He's totally a grump and she's totally sunshine with a hard boiled center. She takes no shtuff and gives it right back.

She's spent her entire life with juvenile epilepsy but she never grew out of it. She has 1 service dog and 1 companion dog who's a service dog school failure. She's spent her entire adult life trying to prove to her family that she can manage without a babysitter.

Beckett hasn't seen Sunny in something like 10-14 years, I couldn't quite tell. But he doesn't recognize her at first. When he does recognize her, he tries to walk back all the first thoughts he had, which were mostly NSFW.

He can't help trying to help her with EVERYTHING, because riding to the rescue is just what Beckett does. Something to do with his parents basically being overgrown toddlers (albeit well loved by everyone who knows them) except now his parents are in trouble with the FBI. That's just a little side story that doesn't get a conclusion in this book and I'm kind of anxious to find out how it is all going to play out.

Captivating, plenty of heat and steam - even if Sunny has had some experience in adult relationships, she is - at first - totally inexperienced in a satisfying adult relationship.

I totally think that Beckett falls first, although he doesn't exactly recognize it for what it is. He's spent his entire adult life being responsible, making tons of money, and solving or dealing with other people's problems. Sunny had to open his mind to making his heart more vulnerable and confessing his real hopes and dreams.
