The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
4.0
I've always been a fan of The Phantom of the Opera musical. It's been a favorite of mine for years. I finally picked up this book to see how accurate the musical is, and I gotta say, Andrew Lloyd Webber and everyone involved did a pretty good job. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the mystery and horror elements of it.
I am a little confused though with Gaston Leroux's notes throughout the book as well as the epilogue. He says that Erik really existed and the entire book is true. I have no idea if he's being serious or not.
Overall, it was fantastic and I loved it. I will always be a fan of The Phantom of the Opera.
SPOILER AHEAD:
(Also Erik is ridiculous and I'm glad he dies. Literally no trauma he had as a child justifies anything that he did.)
