The Tempest by William Shakespeare

5.0

I enjoyed this one a lot! I read a review that says: although The Tempest might seem like a revenge play at first, it is truly a play about forgiveness, reconciliation and the journey home. I find I mostly agree with this, if not for the treatment of Caliban and the discourse around colonialism connected to his character. Still, I must say this is an incredibly complex play. It is part romance, part revenge plot, part murder planning, part magic and illusion, and part comedy. But even as it is all this, it didn't feel too chaotic to understand. The play was also full of hard-hitting lines and good one-liners, which I really enjoyed. All in all, this climed high up on the list of my favorite Shakespeares.
