Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
5.0
Type of read: Commuter read.
What made me pick it up: It was on a book club pick list...I can't remember which one.
Overall rating: 'Mexican Gothic' is an enjoyable acid trip of tragic romances and haunted memories. I enjoyed the style and writing, as well as the way Moreno-Garcia builds the setting and characters. I did have to keep reminding myself that 'Mexican Gothic' is set in the 1950s because I kept questioning why something would be done a certain way and then realized it wasn't based in 2021. Overall, I enjoyed the twists and turns that 'Mexican Gothic' provided and found it to be a refreshing take on one of my favorite genres.
