This is the beautiful and heartbreaking story of Aleisha, a 17 year old stuck in her house where she walks on eggshells due to her mother’s episodes and Mukesh, a widow struggling to find himself after the death of his beloved wife.
This story was brilliantly written with subtle hints that were brought up later to reveal profound insight to the characters’ feelings and thoughts without explaining it.
The story was so interconnected as well in such a satisfying way. The character relationships were so cute and heartwarming, managing to be deep without being cringy. The romantic subplots were also uniquely created in that they didn’t take over the story but served as a sweet spot and a bit of respite in the lives of the characters involved.
I so enjoyed spending my time with Mukesh and Aleisha, watching them fall in love with reading and realizing how much books can connect people and help them understand their situations better, or just escape from reality for a bit.
