This memoir is amazing, not just because Foo is able to tell her own story with so much detail and emotion that it hurts, but because she's able to teach us about c-ptsd at the same time she's learning about it. It perfectly straddles the line between educational and personal, especially when she returns to her hometown to explore just how widespread Asian America generational trauma is. It's never boring or dry thanks for Foo's strong voice, and you really get a sense for how much she's grown as a person by the end of the book. Part one is tough to read because of the material, but I still highly recommend this book.
