This book is so beautifully written - I could see every character, I could feel what Astrid touched, I could smell the things she smelled. I found myself walking around the house feeling as if I were Astrid or Ingrid. I imagined my hair trailing behind me as theirs does. I felt every emotion that Astrid felt. When she smiled, I smiled, and when she was angry, I too was angry. I imagined my walk like theirs. Janet Fitch's writing envelops you in Astrid's world - her triumphs, her miseries, and takes you for an incredible journey of love's beauties and poisons.
