Death Row Welcomes You: Visiting Hours in the Shadow of the Execution Chamber by Steven Hale
4.0
This book provides an inner look at the lives of men on death row in Tennessee. There were parts of this book that left me a bit underwhelmed, but many parts had me in tears.
I appreciate the author’s candidness throughout the book. And at no point was he trying to sway readers one way or the other regarding their death penalty stance.
I think he simply tried to point out that we’re all human, even those on death row.
I was very moved by the group of individuals who visit those on death row each week. And to hear the stories…it was powerful. I also appreciated how the author provides details on the victims and makes sure they’re a focus, too.
