Mexikid by Pedro Martín
4.0
Excellent slice of life graphic novel for middle grades. I loved how — I hate to use the word ordinary — but somewhat mundane the real life plot line was. It’s been a while since I read some kid lit that wasn’t about the world ending or a weird dystopian society.
Martin tells the story of his large family caravan voyage from California to Mexico during the 1970s to bring his aged grandfather back to live with them.
I’d recommend it if you’re interested in first generation stories, or graphic novels trending more on the goofy side.
