Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult
5.0
Type of read: Commuter (listened to and from work)
What made me pick it up: Picoult is a regular on my TBR list.
Overall rating: Holy buckets, this was absolutely not the storyline I was expecting. There were literally parts of 'Wish You Were Here' where I was feeling it in my bones. The sadness, the despair, the hurt, the confusion. I don't know if there's a good way that I can explain reading 'Wish You Were Here.' It's one of those books that makes you question your own memory and experiences. It is still incredibly weird for me to take in media that includes info, scenes, and depictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. I think I haven't fully connected that I lived through that and the magnanimity of the situation. I do feel like my personal experiences with COVID-19 impacted the way I took in and ultimately rated this book.
Reader's Note: I did very much enjoy 'Wish You Were Here' but a lot of the reason for the quick completion was due to having eyes bigger than my calendar and yet again, checking out too many library books at once. When I started this book, I only had three days left of my library loan and I didn't want to start it and have to wait for my name to come around on the wait list again.
