The Burning God by R.F. Kuang
5.0
This book series is literal emotional terrorism.
I was going to give 4 stars because I don't think I can ever read this series again. It's just too heavy on the heart for me.
That being said I feel like I have to give it a 5 because that ending legit made me cry. It needed to happened- shit I wanted it to happen, but here I am heartbroken. I didn't realize how much I had fallen in love with these messed up broken characters until the end happened.
It is bittersweet and it is fucked up to know that a majority of this is based off of real historical events. Even now the "Hesperians" still take advantage of the "Nikarans".
Honestly though, an amazing series that takes you through a very real perspective of a poor war orphan turned soldier in a country infested with war and forced colonization.
