Her Favorite Jack-O-Lantern by Rebecca Rennick

funny hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

5.0

I loved this one so much! We had a lot going on here, but Jack and Sally were adorable. Jack’s returning home after being gone in the military for the past 8 years. He never returned home during those 8 years because he was running away from something that happened. Meanwhile, Sally grew up in this moderately small town where she’s the outcast due to what she wears. She loves all things Halloween, and her whole aesthetic showcases that. These two are neighbors, and the icing is that Jack was Sally’s high school crush! This book is on the sweet side, but there is some steam between them. It is on the slow burn side, but it was cute. We also have a lot of drama due to how the town treats Sally, and of course, Jack’s old high school girlfriend is obsessed with him, which causes a lot of chaos. I wish we had a little more drama between them or even with her family because her family is terrible. Regardless, I enjoyed this one more than the previous book, Pinky Promise, and I cannot wait to get the next book in 2024. This book also has the best formatting, and Rennick has been doing a great job marketing this series. But I’m kind of curious if the stories are ever going to overlap and how. The whole series is on the sweeter side, and I think it is going to be a series of standalones. In the first book, we were in (Pennsylvania), and they had a cute little RV/mobile home community going on, even her friends had different color aesthetics, but they were in this one, and in this book, we were actually in New Hampshire. The next book, I think, is going to be based in Texas, maybe. I know the main character is from Texas, but I’ll have to wait until March to find out.
