This was a GREAT gothic mystery/romance, and I love that genre. It reminded me of Victoria Holt. The mystery kept me guessing the whole time and I *loved* the romance. The MC made some questionable choices along the way and even near the very end, but overall I felt for her and wanted her to be happy. I admired her tenacity and bravery. Her romantic interest was great, though also a little silly near the end. All in all, this book was a pleasant surprise and I’ll definitely be checking out more by this author. This has been the best gothic mystery written in the modern day that I’ve read (I haven’t read many though lol).
FYI.. if you’re reading this because it’s “Christian fiction” you will be disappointed. There is almost 0 mention of God. Conversely, if you were avoiding this because you’ve seen it categorized as Christian fiction, go ahead and read it. If I didn’t know how this was categorized, I’d have never guessed.
