Devil's Mark by Lark Taylor
4.0
“I will choose you every day for the rest of eternity.”
Mafia vibes but with demons and supes.. hell yes.
A demon who doesn’t want to commit to anyone and his fated mate shows up only for him to completely change what he wants.
To be honest I was hooked from that first line of the first chapter, who wouldn’t be.
Cal had me so invested in who and how he is. Those broody, grumpy types are always the ones to watch out for and he fit that mold perfectly.
Oscar this sweet baby had me heartbroken very early on. The anxiety attacks are one thing but add in his paranoia and it just kicks it up a notch.
The trauma and heartbreak that is presented in this book was so spot on. DV is the most horrendous thing someone can go through, it’s never easy to accept that term survivor but that’s what Oscar is. His past broke my heart and had me crying into my coffee. His actions spoke to what he had been through but also what he overcame in the end.
Cal, even though he was the silent older one and broody as hell was the guiding light for Oscar in the most beautiful way, especially when an attack came up. He refused to give up and never did even when Oscar questioned everything.
These two were everything.
There were definitely times where I held my breath, one thought had me gasping cause did he really do that? Yeah he did.
Was there red flags? Of course but we don’t see that color here
