Persuasion by Jane Austen

4.0

Jane Austen knows how to captivate your attention despite writing about a time period where all people really did was hang out at other people’s houses.

I did notice that the characters in this story seemed less fleshed out than in Pride and Prejudice. The Elliot’s in general were fairly two-dimensional. Anne was well-written, but not really my type of protagonist. Also, the ending and the union of Anne and Wentworth was way too rushed for me to feel the sort of attachment I do with Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

Still, I was engrossed by the story all the way through.
