Pogrom: A Novel of Armenian History by Aleksandr Shaginian

5.0

A deeply insightful book on a tragedy even less spoken of, this story leads to a intimate and horrifying retelling of the massacre at Sumgait. The characters established are very human, leading to an even more shocking end to this book. It left me with many more questions than answers, which is definitely the intended message from Shaginyan, and especially poignant in the recent world political climate. This is an emotional read for sure, but a necessary one at that.
