4 stars to The Last Devil to Die, the latest installment of The Thursday Murder Club. I did 50/50 audiobook and e-read, and really plowed through this one. Viola Shaw did a lovely job as always with the narration but I do find myself missing Lesley Manville who did the first 2 books.
The murder plot in this book wasn’t as intriguing was the others, so knocking that down a star, but the stories of the characters are what really made this installment enjoyable for me.
Seeing Stephen’s descent into dementia and how his friends and particularly Elizabeth handled it was so well done. Having had 2 grandparents who suffered, it was so bittersweet reading this part of the story. I loved that Stephen kept his humor until the end and even had a role in solving the crime!
I also loved Joyce in this book and how she found a bit of courage and really found a way to take charge and the fact that she did it out of love for her friend Elizabeth was a joy.
