The main character was interesting but their backstory was a dizzy info dump that said a lot while saying a little. Mackenzie is obviously charismatic but her character is made to feel shallow because of the author's tell and not show method of writing.
I docked .5 for the love interest too, his whole dynamic just felt very very confusing. Hate-love tropes need the right amounts of mutual admiration and annoyance, their was no admiration all annoyance and even the ending couldn't redeem him in my eyes.
