As soon as I started this one I immediately knew it was special. Abdurraqib’s voice is singular and clear, his perspective one that brings us into Black performance from a deeply personal, loving entry point. The mix of personal anecdotes and compelling history was so effective. I feel like this is exactly how to write history, if I could give this well over 5 stars I would.
