Watched the movie first and then went to the book. Infuriating as it is that some of the families still do not have closure almost more than a century later, I found the book a compelling read, one that brings corruption and murder and age-old racial stereotypes into stark and revealing light. Definitely worth reading if you want a glimpse into a period of history that would otherwise likely have been completely forgotten.
Graphic: Racism and Murder
Moderate: Medical trauma
