I’m not all that familiar with the myth of Achilles. This story is such a work of art, and the depiction of the folly of War and falling in love with a demigod - it’s beautifully written, powerfully told, and has a devastating conclusion. I stopped reading this book approximately 50 pages from the end when I finally realized what was about to happen. But it called me back, like the fates that called Achilles to Troy. I. Am. Devastated.
But I am also glad that I read this.
