⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The Light Pirate by @lilybrooksdalton is the best book published in 2022. There is a lot written about the post apocalyptic world, but this book takes place in Florida, mid apocalypse. The story begins in a Florida that is very nearly identical to the Florida of 2022, where climate change causes each hurricane to be more destructive than the last, and each new hurricane season is busier, longer, and deadlier than the last. The birth of protagonist, Wanda, during Hurricane Wanda represents the beginning of the end of Florida. Through her eyes we watch  Florida revert back to a its wild state as the federal government evacuates from the state everyone who is willing to leave before completely abandoning it. Wanda and her de facto guardian, Phyllis, choose to stay in Florida. Initially, Wanda and Phyllis survive in a dystopian swamp, but after Phyllis’ death Wanda finds a life that is anything but dystopian. I’d love to know what Floridians who’ve read this book think about it. #thelightpirate #lilybrooksdalton #bookofthemonth #botm #books #reading instabook #florida #hurricane #climatechange #dystopia #dystopian #dystopianfiction #dystopianbooks #dystopianliterature #bestbooksof2022
