Why Marx Was Right by Terry Eagleton

5.0

In all my formal education I never took a class in economics, philosophy, or sociology so this book really stretched me. It was serious and funny, tiring and enlightening. The format was perfect- each chapter opening with a strong critique of an aspect of Marxism, followed by a well-argued and (for the most part) clearly-written refutation of that critique. It has caused me to reflect deeply about the world around me, which might be the best thing one can say about a book of this kind.

Finished by coincidence on Labor Day, an annual holiday in the United States.
