Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Wow.

I would have never picked up a book on sport, nevermind tennis. But I know TJR weaves magic with words, bringing the raw humanness out in her characters. And this did not disappoint.

Do you remember being a kid, with adults telling you that "you can be anything you want"? We believe it as kids, letting our imagination soar. We completely disregard it as young adults. But it starts showing up, the older you get. We just realise it translates to: you are capable of so many amazing things.

Often, people set out to prove themselves. Become perfectionists, scared of failure. And while we're measuring up against one thing, we accomplish so much along the way. Why does one outweigh the other?

We follow Carrie's journey - what she's had to work and fight for. And how much she grows and learns even later on in life.

This book, this incredible author, made me question and reflect on things in life. I embodied more confidence from just reading about Carrie. I sobbed - actually sobbed - more than once. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation. I felt so at peace at the end.

I once read that art is something that makes you feel something. And this book makes you feel so much. It's absolutely stunning.
