Storm Warning by Pauline Halford

5.0

An amazingly intriguing view into the history of the weather forecast. Halford writes eloquently on the life of Robert FitzRoy and his storm warnings, creating an incredibly engaging retelling. A base of meteorological understanding will be necessary to fully indulge in this book, but any readers will find a compelling story in FitzRoy and the scientific discoveries from many other meteorologists in the mid to late 17th century. Halford also holds a high amount of respect for every scientist and theory presented in this book, which is clearly felt through the pages and brings in a feeling of awe. "Storm Warning" is a beautifully written biopic on Admiral FitzRoy and the development of modern meteorology and forecasting that is memorable and important for any weather enthusiast.
