okay first of all, this cover????? stunning and i need him biblically lol

baby i ate this book up. a romance between a wildfire firefighter, callahan, and an EMT, scottie, who work together in the same small town. this was a WILD journey, like i had no idea where it was going to go but i ended up having a blast. callahan and scottie had such great chemistry. their playful banter and flirting had me giggling and kicking my feet! did i think they had sex way too soon? yes. but that built their casual situationship which added to the DRAMA. there was a...first act breakup? which i enjoyed because then they spent the rest of the book working through their issues and when i tell you these two went AT IT. they went from friends to lovers to enemies real quick. and i'm not mad about it!

i do think that cal didn't grovel enough to my standards. he definitely could have worked harder to make up for the way he treated scottie. i mean, these two had such awful histories and trauma they needed to work through and the way they both acted definitely showed that. but when the truth behind scottie's past came out...girl i'm telling you, this book had DRAMA. MESS. SCANDAL. i truly wasn't expecting it all. i ate it the fuck up.

in the end, seeing cal fight for scottie, his WOMAN?? yeah i'd be on my knees for this man lmao. food would be on the table, dishes would be clean, floors mopped. oh my god and they were a childfree by choice couple!!! yes please!!!! this was so good!
