Oh this book. The follow up to Little Thieves (which must be read first) is a great fantasy with a sinister maybe-god, a search for family, a very sweet and affecting romance and a main character/narrator who is one of my favorite characters in recent memory. Vanja is a smart, funny, hurt, crafty and kind young woman. I can’t give too much away because the discoveries are essential to the enjoyment of the story. Painted Devils is a smart, funny, twisty fantasy with a load of heart. I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy.
