Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s writing is vivid and lovely, so I’m giving this four stars for her style. The story itself didn’t grip me as much as Americanah, though. If you are going to read one of her books- I recommend Americanah but it also is unfair of me to compare the two as they’re different books. Purple Hibiscus has beautiful depictions of religion, understanding family members, and navigating the world.
