We Both Laughed in Pleasure: The Selected Diaries of Lou Sullivan by Lou Sullivan
emotional
reflective
5.0
Devastating and beautiful and comforting all at once. Some considerations:
I don't think that you will get the same experience from this book if you are not transgender, and might find that it is over long. For me, particularly because like Lou, I am a gay trans man, it felt like reaching back into time to find pieces of my soul already stuck there and was immensely validating and beautiful.
If you are not someone who is okay with explicit sexual descriptions and scenes, or explicit descriptions of surgery, I would not recommend this book to you. I think it is still immensely important and I would try to find sections that you can read.
