Let It Shine by Alyssa Cole
5.0
Intersectional heat
I'm turning into a Cole fan because of the way she writes the trials of romantic love. What I appreciate is how Sof finds a voice among pain and a hopeful future . Her arc is fantastic. The romance with Ivan is equally as good. He's a good foil as a Jewish man facing life in the US after the Holocaust's impact on his family. They lean into the similarities and face them as a unit. Shining strong and bright. Becoming a unit to believe in. Fantastic story with energetic intimacy and trust. The 1960s and 1970s weren't easy as a family but they worked to be solid. Content warning for reproductive issues however.
