Wow, I was not expecting to be as affected by this read as I was. The ending absolutely broke me, which I was so surprised by for such a short book. I didn’t really know anything about it going in so this emotional wreckage was definitely unexpected!

It is beautifully written and explores loss and grief and guilt about these feelings in such depth and for someone so young who would not normally be expected to go through such horrible experiences. I loved the representation of the monster helping Conor to process his feelings and experiences and the relationship that developed between the two characters.

A gorgeously written book which will leave you absolutely heartbroken.
