I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
challenging
dark
emotional
funny
hopeful
reflective
sad
medium-paced
5.0
CW: child abuse (emotional & physical), eating disorders, addiction, alcoholism, outdated/derogatory terms (h*rm*phr*dite, r*t*rd, wh*re, etc), body shaming, ableism, mentions of infidelity
this is such a hard read but Jennette does an outstanding job telling her story. she is an outstanding writer, and I hope she does more in the future as I would very much like to pick up more work from her. she's been through so much in so many ways but the book ends with steps towards recovery & hope & I wish nothing but the absolute best for her in whatever she does going forward.
highly recommended if you can handle the subject matter and/or enjoy memoirs.
