Uncommon Type: Some Stories by Tom Hanks
Did not finish book.
Tom Hanks can write! He seems like a wonderful writer, and I do not really have a problem with the prose. He knows where to use what. At times, he even uses certain words that are a bit dated, the vocabulary that nobody uses these days. But I loved this element; it adds to the nostalgia factor.
Unfortunately, the stories are quite bland. They are just there. They do not ignite any kind of emotion in me, at all. In some cases, the stories end abruptly. They do not make me want more or know more. I am not a fan of short stories anyway, but there is always something that stays at the back of my mind. But here, nothing did! If I have to, I would say that the second story, Christmas Eve 1953, was my favourite out of the lot.
