Strong sequel to a strong start to the series. This book follows Liadan, the child of the main couple from the first series. Her adventure / personality somewhat mirrors that of her mother (healer, has a purpose in the great plan, taken by an outsider and falls in love), but it’s still Liadan’s own story.
This author is fantastic at developing strong relationships between the characters. Sometimes, especially in fantasy, it feels that circumstance just throws people together and they fall in love for no reason. But in these books, the characters endure horrible trials with one another, learn their darkest secrets, and the feelings grow from there. The love story in this book was just as strong as the first, and I can’t wait to see what the next book holds.
