I really, really enjoyed this book and learning more about the windrush, a topic which I felt that I needed to educate myself about a little more.
The way this was done was absolutely perfect for the subject matter, with small snippets of stories and experiences of those from the windrush generation, or their children. It was hugely engaging and definitely kept me reading throughout.
I listened to the audiobook, which I would highly recommend, as we got to hear a range of individuals and become very familiar with the recurring voices. I learned a lot about the culture and experiences of those who were part of the windrush as they became settled in Britain amongst huge amounts of hatred.
This book didn’t cover a huge amount surrounding those who were detained, threatened with deportation, or actually deported, so I would like to read more about this myself at a later point, but this was still an amazing, impactful book of experiences.
Highly recommend.
