This is, hands down, one of my favorite books of all time. I came across this novel originally in passing, giving it a try due to the weight given behind Gaiman's name and works along with loving the beautiful illustrations on the cover and throughout. But when actually reading it I was completely swept off my feet and literally couldn't put this book down; finished it quickly in due time. The story was captivating, following the remembrances of a man of his boyhood and the strange happenings that took place centered around his neighbors down the lane. However, my favorite part was how Gaiman captures perfectly the sense of childhood we all, hopefully, remember while imparting invaluable wisdom through his storytelling.
