I picked this up because the synopsis made it sound interesting, however, it didn’t really deliver for me.

It is impressive though, how utterly dull it managed to be, while being centered around captivity, multiple mysteries and puzzles, and pure drama. I think this’ll be my last read from this author.

While it wasn’t bad per se, it wasn’t good either. I’ve read many books and watched many movies that followed this exact plot, for one thing. And while nothing’s original anymore, I think it was the ‘telling’ rather than ‘showing’ writing style that really did it in, at least for me.
