This sort of has a slow start, but it’s very captivating from the beginning and keeps you hooked for most of the book. I loved this take on a possession horror story, the possession being from Hispanic goddess trying to get revenge on those who invaded their land and stole their culture. It also had some tense moments leading up the very end, but I wish the gore and tension had been kicked up a bit more, especially because there’s a lot of build up in the first half. The ending just felt rushed and lacked the detail that the rest of the book had.
