Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews

4.0

After the massive high and a change in status quo, the book was inevitably bound to drop down a level. WRONG. In fact, the book ramps up the spectacular, in terms of the threat, the action and the world building. Adding an Islamic flavor to the series, this is indeed a new direction for Kate even as Roland's threat hovers just over the horizon

Kate & Curran also now try to figure out their relationship and status with the Pack and the Guild. Meanwhile, while there isnt the world ending stakes of the previous book, the events of this book are more personal but still high stakes as Kate is pushed through her limits. There is also an epic but weird encounter with Roland.

The book truly is ramping up but the end game at this point is very unclear as compared to the previous books
