2.5
I gave this book 2.5 stars, and honestly it’s only because of the last third of the book that it’s that high.
We are reminded every other page for the first half of the book that Rhys dumped Vivi 9 years ago after only 3 months of dating. The dialogue is rushed with horrible pacing, and we’re meant to believe that Rhys and Vivi can so quickly get over their issues within a day or two of being together after 9 years. The writing style is very YA (almost middle grade??) but with adult content that pops up without any legitimate lead up.
Once Rhys and Vivi sleep together the first time, the remaining pacing of the book isn’t as horrible. I can see why some people come away feeling this book is a nice cozy fall read, but the first two thirds of the book ruin that sentiment.
