Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero

5.0

It should be no surprise that my favorite character was Tim. I meean c'mon, the way Cantero wrote him was absolutely perfect. I loved the book and especially loved the characters. It was like a rougher, more grown up version of Scooby Doo I didn't know I needed. But it wasn't a spin off of Scooby Doo - something I appreciated.

The plot was a lot more sinister than I imagined going into it, but it ticks all the boxes for a good creepy supernatural mystery. It definitely made me laugh and took me by surprise a couple of times. I was holding my breath for Andy and Kerri the ENTIRE book and was pleased with the way Cantero developed their relationship. I appreciated the incorporation of themes like childhood trauma, mental illness, sexuality, gender roles, etc. Made it feel like a much fuller book, rather than a campy callback to Saturday morning cartoons with a twist.

It was an all around good time.
