One of the most underrated books from Austen; it deserves waaay more love.

The introduction by Kathryn Sutherland is pretty dry but I always really appreciate more perspective without having to take the trouble of joining a reading group.

I'd probably rank this on par with Sense and Sensibility in my personal Austen line-up. However, because it's a bit of a chonk and slow compared to her other books I don't reread as often. Plus the main romance is a titch cringy considering Fanny Price ends up married to her cousin.

I love returning to Austen's England whenever I'm low and need a pick me up. Her heroines tend in a Cinderella direction where patience, modesty,  grace, wit, and kindness always win over adversity. Here, happy ending's are ubiquitous and the wicked are served their just deserts. Mansfield Park is the best example of this<3
