Misfit City #3 by Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith, Naomi Franquiz, Kurt Lustgarten

4.0

Starting at issue 3 with no context and I already really like the series. Part of it is the nostalgia it brings, but it's also a cast of female protagonists with different body types, races, and sexual orientations. These girls look real and it's so refreshing. They feel like they have lives with histories I don't yet know about, and I find myself already caring about them.

The art is intentionally on the messy side and it works perfectly for the book. Interesting use of colour to change mood and setting.

I'm excited about this series! When the trade comes out I'll be able to read what I missed out on! If you want an all-girl Goonies type adventure, this is your pick.
