Beauty and the Beard by R.M. Neill
3.0
Greif is like a gnat, it always flies around you and never goes away. Just when you think it does it comes right back.
Leaf & Sasha were a broken couple, in a beautiful way.
Leaf is grieving his husband he lost.
Sasha is grieving the loss of his mother but also what he thought was a great life he was living.
Turns out they both need healing and what better way to do that than with each other.
This book was a great slow paced read for me and I love every minute of it.
These two grow so much as the book goes on that it was almost predictable in a way but really it wasn't. Having a hurtful past is what keeps walls up and Leaf as well as Sasha both have very tall walls to climb.
Surely but slowly they let them fall for the other to see what it is that hurt them.
The angst is low in this but still there, not so much tension as it is a slow burn with each other but also insta-love?
I loved every minute I spent with these characters, it opened a new world that is all about lumberjacks, maple syrup (real maple syrup that is just yummy) and bonds that are not easily broken. Plus the found family is always a plus to me.
I can't wait to see what is in store in Book 2
