Stranger Than We Can Imagine: Making Sense of the Twentieth Century by John Higgs

5.0

Utterly astounding, John Higgs gives a detailed account of the 20th Century in a way that it has never been looked at before. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific theme, and at the beginning of every chapter, I found myself thinking "what does what he's talking about now have to do with X?" Every time, Higgs manages to connect everything and you actually feel like you understand things like relativity, the id, and other such concepts. A fantastic, funny, deeply interesting book.
