A contemporary take on Greek tragedy with the draw of a small town soap opera. I think the author very artfully molded the characters, you can see where they reflect their Greek counterparts and they come through as such multifaceted characters. The way the truths of the narrative are revealed really adds to the intrigue of getting to the heart of it all. I think the trials they each face offer a lot of discussion on what we owe to ourselves and others, bearing the weight of guilt, and trying to find forgiveness. A thoroughly absorbing read.
