I loved this. The story follows Isobel, a mortal girl who paints Faeries in the town of Whimsy. She is tasked with painting a faerie prince, Rook, and after “insulting” him, is thrust out of Whimsy and into the true world of Faerie.
I gotta say, I’m not usually a huge YA fan, but I really enjoyed this book. I think the rules of faerie in this book were really well developed compared to others I’ve read. Like, the rules surrounding courtesy, the strange and horrible appearances glamoured away, the odd food and scenery—all incredibly well written in this, and written in a whimsical (lol) and descriptive manner. I wanna visit!
Also—I love Rook. He’s a dumb idiot, but he is MY dumb idiot. Very entertaining little story.
