“Trying to cultivate a sense of self is hard enough. Refining the edges means trimming back some growth.”
“We cannot be silenced. We cannot be ignored. And we are not going back.”
“Destroying the good things in your life is not taking control.”
“Each step counts… no matter what.”

I’m one of those people who usually never read poetry, but I’m so glad I checked this one out because I really enjoyed it. I related to so many of the poems and a few of them made me tear up.

Reading the poems was an emotional roller coaster, and a surprisingly healing experience. There were sad ones but also some funnier and more lighthearted ones that gave me optimism about things getting better. I loved having the excerpts after each poem to further clarify the meaning and also to tell the stories behind the poems.

This book reminds you that you’re not alone with whatever you’re going through. I already know I will pick this up again soon.

I highly recommend checking this out even if you’re not a fan of poetry.

I see you, you’re not alone. Thank you for letting me ARC read this!
